For this particular project, I was tasked with developing Branding & Identity for Big Red’s Designs (Custom Woodworking). The client requested a logo that he could essentially “see himself in,” but also represents his business.

Like with any project, when the client is describing what they envision for their brand, 1,001 ideas run through my mind. Some of the first thoughts I had for this project were:

• Colors: Red & Black (since the business is based near Athens, GA, as well as the client being a UGA Police Officer).
• Emphasis on the client’s red beard.
• Something wood/forest/woodgrain related.
• Big dude… burley… lumber jack like.

After several iterations and trying to combine all of the elements above, the finished product is probably one of my favorite logos. This probably also has to do with the face that the logo will be used to create an iron press for wood burning.
